16 jazz groups and 1 movie: the all-year music festival "Jazz in den Ministergärten" October 22nd, 2010 in Berlin.
October 22nd seven German county representives invites us to the traditional "Jazzfest at the Ministergardens". This year they present a versatile program: ballroom jazz with kitchen grooves from Brandenburg, lyrical ethno-jazz from Hessen, virtuose piano improvisations between classical music and jazz from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, furious gypsy sounds from Rheinland-Pfalz, soulful electro-modern-pop-sax-jazz with NicoleJo from Saarland, amazing sound experimental music from Niedersachsen and thrilling soul-jazz with the legendary vocalist Lillian Boutté from Schleswig-Holstein.
Already in the supporting program at 6pm the county representives from Schleswig-Holstein and Niedersachsen present us the prize-winning documentary "The Sound after the Storm", which shows the struggle of the city New Orleans and its musical survival 4 years after hurricane Katrina. It is also a portrait of the singer Lillian Boutté, who moved to Germany and lives now in Schleswig-Holstein. Later she performs live on stage with her phenomenal mix out of jazz-, blues-, soul and gospel.
