5th Anniversary GEOFF GOODMAN QUINTET – Live CD Recording

GoeffGoodman.jpgThe split between 52nd Street and the Knitting Factory fits. Rarely modern jazz grip so well and is funny and sophisticated as in this group. Who loves the paintings of Juan Miro, loves also "Tall Tales and Dreams", the new album of the GEOFF GOODMAN QUINTET.

Geoff Goodman - guitar, banjo
Felix Wahnschaffe - alto sax
Rudi Mahall - bass clarinet
Henning Sieverts - bass, cello

Five years ago Geoff Goodman founded this quintet. After several tours, festivals and two CD productions this group return to his birth place, the Munich jazzclub "Unterfahrt".

On this occasion the renowned label TUTU Records will produce a live album.

The programme of the "Unterfahrt" week covers brand new Goodman compositions, but also pieces from the recent CD "Tall Tales and Dreams", a typical Goodman mixture of big band sounds, folk, post-bop, grunge and rumba.

With Felix Wahnschaffe's raw intensity on alto sax and Rudi Mahall's radical beauty on the bass clarinet, one of the most homogeneous, exciting and humorous horn sections evolved over the years. Henning Sieverts and Bill Elgart form a lively and keen rhythm group you can imagine.
